The works, though abstract, relate in a direct pictorial way to the events of
my life. Some, such as the Bob & Julia series, are autobiographical. The
photo images are us in negative.
The watercolor monoprints are my reaction to being away from New York
in a country atmosphere-something akin to the impressions reaction to an outdoor
local. In my case it’s Massachusetts, the hills, trees, air and culture.
The darker paintings red, white and black, are starker reality, haunting,
dreams and events. Many of the paintings are my way of fusing the vibrancy of
the watercolor monoprints and the direct reality of the darker drawings.
The collage and multiple watercolors are varying experiences recombined.
Some paintings are a development from computer images. These started as collaged
photographs, which were drawn over in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Basically my work is a search for meaning.
